I had a great idea earlier. I didn’t write it down immediately so it got lost. Perhaps it will return to me, but right now I am none the wiser. I guess what I want to say on this day is the importance of tracking these lessons learnt. Pivotal moments in your life, pivotal lessons learnt or, to relate to previous blogs, this idea of workarounds. Imagine if every single one of these workarounds is recorded and written down to then look back on, dated and contextualised. You would have a whole database of what happened when and where. This concept of lessons learnt comes from project management, I don’t understand fully the ins and outs of how to do, but the gist of it, yes. Every day is pivotal in the grand scheme of things, I argue anyway. You should learn everyday. Oh yeah, I sort of remember where that idea earlier stems from, I made my bed last night in a completely new and different way to whatever I have ever done before. Think about how many times I’ve made my bed across the span of my lifetime thus far, lots. However, I just learnt how to make my bed in a more efficient and effective way; I can no longer go back to the old way. This must be recorded. In a previous episode, I mentioned trying on purpose to do things differently to how you’ve done them before, and it is difficult. But I think just being conscious of how you are doing something in the first place, is a stepping stone. Say for example, you are at the gym. The mind muscle connection, have some conscious thought about how you go about mundane and ordinary things – is this the best way of doing this thing. I recall having a similar thought when brushing my teeth, I most likely follow a similar pattern around my mouth every single time, so I, in the very same moment, mixed it up. I believe mixing it up is always a good thing. Mixing it up is the best. Surprise me. I love surprises. I want to be surprised. I surprise myself sometimes – do you?
